Biographical Summary | William M. Whitten was one of the engineers and helped with the funding for the construction of the first bridge over Charlotte Harbor. He served on City Council, the DeSoto and Charlotte County Commission and ran a suc- cessful pineapple business among other enterprises. As Councilman/ Commissioner, he oversaw the implementation of the first sidewalks in Pun- ta Gorda. |
